When Nova Labs set out to upgrade their dust collection system, the goal wasn’t automation for automation’s sake. They needed a system that was NFPA-compliant, right-sized for real usage, and practical to install in-house.
Rather than oversizing fans and ductwork “just in case,” Nova Labs took a different approach. With Ecogate’s On-Demand Control System, airflow is supplied only where machines are active, while minimum conveying velocities are continuously maintained across the duct system.
The result is a system that adapts to actual shop activity, avoids unnecessary fan energy, and stays compliant without running everything at full capacity.
Just as important, the system was self-installed. Nova Labs handled ducting, gates, electrical, and controls internally, then brought Ecogate in for commissioning. The modular architecture made it straightforward to install, expand, and tune over time.
This case study shows what’s possible when dust collection is designed around measured demand instead of assumptions.
